Open Mic Night

Open Mic Night is a chance to perform to an audience with new and exciting work!
Do you have a comedy set you've always wanted to try? or maybe a new song you've written? Whatever it is, bring it to NYT's first Open Mic Night held in our recently refurbished building!
This event will have a technical team working on lights and sound. A Mic, sound system and amp will be available if you need them.
This event is taking place on Friday 28th July 2023, 6pm-10pm at National Youth Theatre. The performance begins at 8pm.
Tech/dress run is from 6pm-7:45pm.
Apply via the NYT HUB by Tuesday 18th July 2023 and you will hear back from us by Thursday 20th July 2023.
Will I meet the other NYT members before the event?
There won't be a specific day to meet the other NYT Members performing but there will be an open rehearsal space to use if you wish on the day in our building. You may meet some of the other performers there if you wish to use it! All performers will get a chance to say hello to each other during the tech run on the day!
If I'm not selected to perform, can I show up and perform?
There will be three walk-on spots for audience members to perform work, you do not need to be an NYT Member to perform but you MUST be 18-25. These spaces will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis and you'll be able to sign up at the front desk on the night.
Can I invite casting directors and agents to come and watch me?
You are welcome to invite whoever you like to come and watch you! However, this is an informal Open Mic night and lots of people will be trying out new and exciting work. For any further information, please contact Marketing and Membership Coordinator, Marvel Kalu on marvel.kalu@nyt.org.uk.
Will there be walk on spots?
There will be three walk-on spots on the night for audience members who wish to step onto stage and perform. These will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis - you do not need to be an NYT Member to perform however you MUST be 18-25.
